It took a bit more than a week to identify this photo. The first to be identified was the late Herb Frake, left, who was discussing some drainage issues with Rep. Chuck Pangle, the late Paul Doyle (below) and engineer Mike Watterson.
Bob Greenburg was first to identify Herb, then Edward Tholen started the ball rolling this week by identifying Frake, Doyle and Watterson, but he was incorrect on Pangle.
First to correctly identify the entire lineup was Dale Rabideau. Also correctly identifying the photo were Connie Long, Steve and Nancy Tholen, Ron Lukow and Jim Goldtrap.
Also coming oh-so-close were Rick Schoolman, Larry Prairie, Dana Razzano and Kim Nakaerts. Almost every one of them misidentified at least one of the men as Larry Mahoney or Hanley Guy.
By coincidence, former Clifton residents and children of Paul Doyle, Darryl and Angie Doyle, were visiting family in the area over the Thanksgiving weekend and were happy to see the photo and reminisce about their father with many friends.
As to what the men may have been discussing when the photo was taken, Rick Schoolman notes “they were checking the tile where the culvert comes out of the farm north of Clifton and goes under the railroad between the old highway and the railroad tracks.”
